Wildlife Getting into Houses

Folks are reporting raccoons on rooftops, which can cause serious damage as they try to get into the attic.  Things that lead to raccoon invasions include: trees or tall shrubs close enough to the house for the animal to jump over, and nearby food sources such as trash cans left outside, especially at night, that are not properly secured. If you do leave your trash cans outside be sure to securely strap them closed.

Raccoons can also reportedly climb downspouts, so if the aforementioned food sources are nearby, even without nearby trees they may still climb up onto the roof in an effort to create a den that’s handy to all that free food.
